So, yesterday I go to the little town SSE of us, with the small, but fairly complete grocery store that has the best meat.
Store had been open about 15 minutes, I am the ONLY shopper so far, (there to buy nice steaks for our New Year's Eve meal,) and the butcher starts up a conversation with me.
Locally there were LONG LINES for coffee and coffee filters in C-U!!
He said that his friend reported up to over 30 people in line to buy this!! At WM, Schnucks, Meijer, and probably they cleaned them out at the 3 Aldi's, too.
DD has been ordering a regular delivery of large bags (4pk, 36 ounce size) for over a year now.
WE'RE good, AND I stocked up on filters in November for the year for Both households.
I am considering buying a filterless insert for my coffeemaker and saving the filters for the iced tea maker.
I see that it's about $7 + S&H on ebay, probably a little less at a local box store.
the filter basket i used was about $5 at WW, a simple plastic basket, wire mesh coated with gold. i've used it for all sorts of fine filtering uses from doing soy milk to making coffee and tea. no paper filters any more. within a few years it's one of those things that pays for itself. superfine powder may somewhat come through but that doesn't bother me at all.
