Going for my second cup of coffee. It’s 58F with a high of 72F and rain predicted for this afternoon. I got a lot done yesterday on setting up my sheep working equipment. I can finish up today and be able to run them through the chute, give shots, take fecal samples to analyze for worms, them worm appropriately. I’ll be able to trim feet and sort out the ones I want to put with the new ram. It’s going to be a huge help.

Wow, that sounds like a lot of work Baymule. Seems to me you are part builder, part scientist, and part veterinarian. You manage all of this on your own??

Having coffee. It is going to be 41 today. We still have snow all over the ground. A few seed catalogs have arrived.

coffee and waffles this morning then out to the garden. I need to weed and mulch the fruit garden replant the pots at the house. I’ve only gotten two catalogs so far this year. The SSE one and Gurney’s. Gurneys’s went straight in the trash after my last few experiences with them.

Good Morning.

This morning, steel cut oatmeal with butter, honey and milk. These sweet but somewhat bland naval oranges that are available now. DW was willing to eat the Mandarins earlier this week. Sometimes, she is not although she is very much an orange person. Where are the Valencia, they should be showing up about now, right? Almost applesauce season.

I've actually been getting some EXCELLENT Navels recently (those Paramount ones I mentioned earlier). the farmer's market must have gotten in a shipment pretty soon before I arrived, so I was able to get 36 of them! And they ARE disappearing so fast we may have to go back and try to get more as early as the end of next week!

Normally, I'd say and go look for the Dekopons (Sumo mandarins) since those have just started hitting the market. But so far, this year's crop seems unusually sour to me.

And yeah, the mandarins seem to be all over the place. I've had some decent ones, some over sour ones and one yesterday that tasted uncannily like bleach. Simply going by general type seems to no longer work, you have to focus on WHOSE orchard you are getting from.

I was planning on having tea this morning but since I fell asleep in the recliner waiting for the water to heat coffee sounds like a better idea. I had eggs and provolone and mushrooms for breakfast. Normally I add spinach but I couldn’t find any this morning. Now I need to get up and actually fix some coffee and start on the cake I need to bake.

Mongo likes cake....

@digitS' that book wasn't what i'd consider an easy read and now long ago in my mists of time.

it for sure isn't what i'd want to read in the depths of winter.

i've had a real hard time finding books to read lately (the library doesn't get much science fiction or fantasy and their on-line e-books aren't getting too many current or new author books either). one night a few weeks ago i spent three hours paging through the entire collection trying to find a book i hadn't read that looked interesting. nope, i don't want to read yet another vampire story (even a good bodice ripper i'd read if the story seemed interesting enough). nope. not one. in the meantime i'm waiting for several of my favorite authors to come out with newer books too. so the depths of winter is upon us and i'm glad i have other projects to keep me busy.

today i'll start on roasting some squash. it's a good task for a raining cool day.

breakfast, hmm, not sure yet about that. likely some bean soup and a chunk of this pumpkin roll. that will give me plenty of energy for cutting up and roasting.

Flowerbug, have you read "The Day the World Came to Town"? It's about Newfoundland having to host the stranded flights that couldn't land in USA after 9/11. It's very good, short, non-political, heart-warming.

it sounds familiar so i've probably heard of it before, but i haven't read it. will put it on my list to see if i can request it.
