Like Queen Ann's lace, carrots are biennial. That means this year it is safe to grow the carrots. Then, early next spring you can cover a few plants you've selected for seed. You just need to keep the carrots from blooming at the same time as the QAL. I've done that by bringing select carrots up from storage early in the year and get them started growing (inside) long before QAL. That way your carrots will be flowering before QAL competition.i've been eyeing those too. but i would like to be able to keep the seeds, however i have lots of Queen Anne's lace growing wild so i'm afraid it would cross pollinate.
