I think she means emergency airlifts coming to the US from Mexico. But we'll wait on her to confirm this.

Mary

Yes, flights from the U.S. into Mexico to pick up Americans.
That amount was nearly 20 years ago. Probably a lot higher now.

I got a flyer in the mail for a company that does emergency air lifts.
You can buy a policy for 60 something dollars for a year of insurance if you ever need to be life flighted. I thought that was surprisingly inexpensive.
They network with other flight services so it's not just local.

My son had a stack of plywood land on his ankle when he worked for a lumber company. They took him 5 miles to the hospital in an ambulance. That ride was $400. Fortunately his employers insurance picked up the entire tab for that adventure.

Life flights are common up here, since the nearest trauma hospital is 70 min away. It costs about $22,000 - $30,000 to be flown. I'm going to buy a life flight ticket for the DH and I. Its $100 a year and you put stickers on your car in very obvious places so that they don't use another service.
Insurance (at least the ACA Covered CA) won't cover air ambulance rides.

If anyone is worried about safety going to someones house for a item, you can always ask seller to meet you somewhere public. Around here local police station parking lot is often used as meeting place.
A lot of police stations around here are setting up a place in the parking lot for people to meet with safety.

So the pics seem to indicate that Burt is already in the cage with TT and both are doing well? That's wonderful! You are right, birds are flock critters, and will be happier with a buddy.
In my experience, birds are easier to train and tame when they are singles, but that is for our whim, I guess, and not for the bird's happiness.

TT is pretty tame once he settled in. He loves to hang out on my desk with me. I know that might change with another bird, BYC always stresses birds are much happier in flock.
