Yea, doesn't matter when we make them. We always spear cut them and then jam pack em. Always turn out perfect. Even the seeds get eaten.
Store pickles are white, weak tasting and I hate the skin on them, like chewing leather, gross.

Now you guys make me want to try a 'real' pickle. How do I make them?
Pickles are not hard to make. I use my Great-Grandmother's recipe, who handed it down to my Grandmother and then to me. The first time I made these, I was in high school and I have made them ever since. We had BBQ sandwiches tonight and I put these pickles on mine. Here's the link to when I posted the recipe.
