Nyboy, I love you and I love the way you love your Dad. I only wish I still had my Daddy. He had compost in his blood veins and lived to garden. He was organic before organic was cool and J. Rodale was the only publications on organic gardening. I often think about him and how he would have loved to have an entire garden forum composed of people all over the world to talk garden with. I miss him.
:hugsSweet (I bet I would have loved him, too.) :hugs Missing my Daddy everyday. :love

Anyone want to borrow him ? I really should not complain, my sister has it much harder she handles his money. Wasn't to bad till some Einstein at the bank gave him ATM card. Dad doesn't understand overdrawn fees, he thinks as long as the machine spits out money he is good.
Most accounts can be set up to deny money if overdrawn. However you would not want him unable to get money if it means he can't get home. I would speak too the bank-perhaps they can wave the fees if he is dealing with some kind of mild dementia.

Too funny! I'm sure you don't find it as cute as the rest of us do, but I love to hear the anecdotes of what your dad has been into lately. I cannot believe he is 90. He looks great!

My dad complained today that he hasn't seen me in a week and a half. Actually I've seen him every day last week except that he wasn't home when I stopped by Saturday. I imagine your dad forgot he had already brought the dog by too. ;)

Every Sunday I pick my father up and we go to a diner he likes. Last night I got to listen to the power struggles at senior center. I am so lucky many people his age are bed bound, when I call him I know to wait till evening or I get the answering machine. He has a group of friends who watch out for each other.

My father is in a return visit to the hospital. Three times since November.

I visited him on each of the last 3 days.

He likes the nurses and looked better today than previously. Has pneumonia but eating breakfast by himself and says it sure tastes better than yesterday. Hospital food! The pleasure of eating and of breakfast and lunch with others must be a big plus for the elderly. Not that I would know, personally.

my dh had to stay overnight at hospital beginning of December, another stroke. this time we caught it early. wasn't happy they wouldn't do BLT w/extra bacon. :he wouldn't let him have anything too salty & basically had to have chicken sandwich that night for dinner. next morning they didn't get him anything to eat till nearly lunch-too many tests to run on him. you would think this is the 2nd stroke in 4 years that he would smarten up & eat healthy. :idunno

I was just thinking yesterday that after getting some water heating, the first thing I pick up in the kitchen is a knife.

This probably isn't the safest behavior for an olde guy in the early morning. Still, it reflects that I'm eating my 3 servings of fruit before I dig into any other carbohydrates. Actually, the cereal comes about the same time and I try to choose something complex, with a reasonable amount of protein.

Except for eggs, animal protein comes later in the day and I'm trying to get the day off to a good start. It limits what I'm eating all the remaining waking hours. Easiest thing I can think of is to pick up a knife and start peeling something, chop some fruit. Later, I can chop some vegetables ...
