I have no problem with busting police when they are wrong. But that bad things happen to innocents is not on the police. If an innocent is harmed while the police try to apprehend a potential law breaker should be on law breaker. If someone is injured or killed while a drunk runs, it should be on drunk.

The concept of "no chasing" is ludicrous.
Seriously? Too bad if an innocent is killed in a police chase? If it were your loved one you would be OK with it?

Where did I type I would be "OK" with it? I put the blame WHERE it belongs-on the one fleeing. I'd want the guilty to stand trial for murder. If they were dead, I'd piss On their grave....

People are to pull over when they hear sirens. Not look to see where it's coming from or watch. Pull over, stop, then look. On related note, I want to take licenses from drivers that hear sirens-usually ambulances-& keep driving or slow down to see what is going on. GET OUT OF THE WAY!

Police, ambulances, fire trucks, EMS all have priority on street over citizen. Here in sticks we also out of respect give priority to funerals. Don't want to pay attention to what is going on (radio, phone, personnal hygiene, running late, etc) doesn't change priorities.

What I really have a problem are Criminals that get hurt because of crime they are committing then sue for their injuries. Bernhard Goetz was being robbed by 4 men on the subway, he pulled out a gun and shot them. One of the robbers collected millions because he was shot.

A fugitive is holding a hostage at gunpoint after being confronted by a lone police officer.

The officer has no idea why the person with a gun has taken a hostage and is refusing to obey orders to disarm while resisting arrest. Deciding that the individual is a threat to the public, the officer fires his/her weapon.

The hostage is killed by a police bullet.

Ok????? #1, police don't fire until perp fires. Hostage is dead once taken hostage. This is a no win situation. Only hope perp is dead when it's over.

Perp, takes a hostage. Kills hostage, then starts firing on other innocents while the cop under your orders stands and watches because he might miss. 2 can play this game.

My orders? I'm sure police officers are under orders from their departments on when to use deadly force. That way, they are not making independent decisions based on personal emotions.

Hostages are taken and released relatively unharmed every day.

As an initial response, let's hope that the police don't shoot up every residence where a spouse has refused to allow a woman to leave.
