Dec. 24 early morning starts out bright and sunny. By 11 am fog rolls in. By 2 , dark clouds roll in and BB sized hail starts to fall, then partially frozen drops, then snow flakes , followed by rain drops... soon all of the above at the same time for 2 hours. Sun break by 4:`15. At 9 it starts to snow. I wake up at 5:30 am with about 2 inches of snow covering everything. A WHITE CHRISTMAS ... YEA !!!! :weee Then sirens started to be heard again and again as people start to drive. We were to go to Portland, Ore. at 2 in the afternoon for a Christmas dinner with our son and his family as well as his in- laws. by 11 o'clock , son calls and says that most roads are impassable due to black ice and that the bridge over the Columbia River for I 5 was closed due to 2 major accidents and traffic backed up for miles. Dinner postponed to the next day. :eek: Next morning, I wake up at 5 am and go out to get the morning paper. Surprise miracle ... front sidewalk and a walkway next to our car and leading to our front porch was clear of snow while everything else had a 2" snow cover. :bow I whent down the cleared of snow area to get the newspaper and made a ninja / karate move that a Budha monk would be proud of. :cool: I didn't fall. However, my R ankle started to hurt and swell up followed by extream pain and barely able to stand much less walk. :thSo, yesterday, I whent to the doctor ... I was fitted for a "ProStep Walker" black walking boot to immobilize my R ankle, as I had a partial tear on my achiles tendon. :barnie

OUCH to your ankle.

I'm a faller. Hi, my name is Murphy and I fall ALOT. Since 2011..... I tripped over our McNab BC and shattered my patella, was in a wheelchair for 3 months, then a second surgery two years later to remove hardware. Tripped on a curb at an open house, falling down between the said curb and the car. Then in Alaska this past summer, tripped over a 1/2" raised section of the sidewalk. Fell on my arm on my ribs. When we got back to Bothel, WA, I had to go to urgent care for help. Last week, I tripped over a portion of a laundry basket and went "planking" on the laundry in my arms onto the bedroom carpet. Luckily no injuries that time. I'm going to be one of those old women who fall alot and then die. Yep, that's me.

That's a lot of falling. From what you said it seems as if you are still young. I would see if there is an exercise program to improve balance or some physics therapy. That bad end does not need to be your destiny.

Not too long after I lost some of the use of my left leg, I was asked by a nurse to estimate how often I fell each year.

I remember thinking that it probably wasn't weekly but must be about 3 times each month. I'll just say 30 times a year. I was ambulatory, no need to be inactive. I had things to do; places to go!

She said, "Well, we are probably going to get you in a walker." WHAT! ??... i realized that i was really needing to be more careful ... i fall but usually when there doesn't seem to be any good reason to. Something happens that breaks my concentration when I wasn't really applying much thought to how and where I was moving. This is nearly always where I am not likely to hurt myself - open field! Which is good but, I have to admit, it makes me a little po'd to go through my days like this. Makes me feel old but, ya know, after a few decades behaving this way ...
