That will be a percolator, @Nyboy ?

I was hoping that you would report that everything was normal with the big storm (national news) ... coffee not available would have been a big problem! Hey, a King County Washington judge has just ordered an "energy drink" company to pay 4.3 million $. Yeah, the company claims in ads that their "DECAF" drink will boost energy levels and alertness and that is "doctor proven." Judge says it ain't so. Company says it will appeal. I wonder what's in it ... I have an instant in little packets with ginseng, now and then. It doesn't taste very good but blends in with the coffee kinda okay. Definitely feel different after drinking but the fully caffeinated coffee is a little different for me to drink, also.

Ice Storm here! Schools are closed and, I guess, it's worse further to the West. The trees out there may be in trouble altho there aren't so many towns built on hills in the Columbia Basin. Oh but, if you were thinking of driving from Here to Seattle and have studs on all 4 tires so the ice might not be much of a problem ... you got the chains in the trunk if things get really bad ... forget about getting over all 3 passes to western Washington --- They Are All Closed.

It's raining, it's raining, it's raining :celebrate, washing all that white stuff away. The powers that be say we're heading for milder temps this weekend. not saying we won't get hit with more of the white stuff but I'd rather it rain than snow.

Hey, I got much of the ice cleared off the concrete sidewalks and made it back indoors before it started raining again! I think we are okay because there was water under the ice and it should soon be above freezing locally. The neighbor was having real trouble getting about a half inch of frozen snow and a quarter inch of ice on top of it off his windshield! My pickup has more snow but I didn't drive it anywhere yesterday.
We may have only 36°f tonight, @baymule

. I'll let you know if that is a good or bad thing.

I notice that the lower elevation streams are beginning to flood. It must be that some of this snow is melting somewhere because a quarter inch of freezing rain isn't doing it!

I just got in from chores. Pine trees are all coated in ice, rain is coming down and making soup. Got warm enough last night to melt some of that snow that was coming down then cold enough to freeze it, and now warm enough to puddle on top.
I don't like rain on top of snow, that's for sure. What a mess!

I guess Kid#2 made it out okay, he leaves at 4:30, dh came in before he left for work and said it would be a good day to stay home in case I had planned on a town trip. Fine by me. The animals are all stocked up and so are the cupboards. It will be nice if the power doesn't go out, but I just split about 4 wheelbarrows worth of wood and stashed it in the garage, so that makes me feel secure. :p
A fire is cheerful to watch at least.

Our garage may have some minor (I hope minor) flooding issues, since the snow packed driveway is now higher and a lot of that water is coming inside. I'm going to call DH and ask him to pick up some sandbags on the way home.
It's noisy out there as the ice slips off the trees and lands on the crust of snow.

But now I'm going to build a good fire and bake some bread and have
another cup of hot coffee. :)
