@thistlebloom I do miss days we burnt wood. Nothing better than a day snowed in, animals all snugged up, fire going and munchies with fresh hot beverage. Something those sweet peas will never appreciate.

You bet! I'm sitting here with a cup of coffee, bread rising and a fire popping and snapping.
All the animals got double rations this morning and are topped off good enough that other than their evening check they won't need me to do anything else.
Other than knowing my guys will have to deal with the roads I'm pretty content. :)

We had rain until 11:00 or so this morning. I try to keep my horse outdoors as much as possible. Best for health. I had him out in a coat and planned to bring him in when the snow got bad. Since our mare died sometimes he refuses to go in the barn. When a thousand pound animal locks their legs there is no moving him. I will not fight with the old boy-yes he has me well trained. He will walk gently into the barn a dozen times and then one day, no. Of course today was the day. I led him to the barn a dozen times while it was pouring a cold rain, with a beautiful load of grain to entice him. He turned his nose up at it. I let him go back into the field and he kicked up his heels in joy. I waited and hour or so, the wind was howling, the snow had started and the lightning was coming. Again the big bucket of grain awaited. He hesitated and then walked into the barn like a sweet old boy.. He was mostly dry because of his blanket. Certainly nothing would happen to him in the bad weather but it make me feel better than he is warm and dry.

In case you're referring to me since I'm "sweet", I appreciate those things too! Although in my case, it's calling the plow guy, turning the switch on the gas stove, and having some champurrado. Sorry you have to look that word up, :p

Chocolate with corn flour!??!

Well, chocolate is from Mexico so I'll take your word for it, Mary. ... but yes, I had to look it up ;).

@so lucky should know that I still like the instant Kava coffee just fine. I use it most afternoons - dilute it with the roasted fig drink so as to cut the caffeine. Instead of putting that fig stuff in the basket of the coffee maker with the freshly ground beans, I put it in a tea ball with the Kava. It goes in a little boiling water for a few minutes, then that water goes into the hot soymilk. I've got the Very Vanilla this week :). Soymilk is a little hard to use with coffee and I'm not really interested in adding it to the fresh-brewed. Using the instant is a way to go. I imagine that hot milk might be easier to use but I don't have cow's milk very often and always have the soymilk.

Mary, I don't know how you sleep at night knowing you didn't "earn" those warm fuzzies! Haha.

Have to ask, is champurrado an acquired taste? Hate to go to trouble of making only to find out it is. Mexican chocolate or couple of the other ingredients.
