"Just get over it!" Some people couldn't.

"Scott Davison, the CEO of the Indianapolis-based insurance company OneAmerica. ... said in a statement to The Associated Press, citing CDC data.

“CDC data indicates that 65% of 3Q excess deaths can be directly attributed to COVID,” Davison said. “Our own claims data is consistent with that as well. Based on the data and our analysis, we believe that a significant portion of the remaining excess deaths are driven by deferred medical care and individuals who recover from COVID but later die from the toll COVID has taken on their bodies.”

Interesting also is what an industry representative said about Delta and its impact on working-age patients.

Just an informal comment from that Dean in the medical school ~

"CFR (case fatality rate) for Omicron in the US during surge was 0.4%. About a quarter of what it was for delta. That really is good. But Omicron surge caused so many infections ... That it killed about 50K people just in the last 3 weeks."

yes, it's done a number here too. overall hospitalisation rates are down again and that is good to see but we still lost about 165 people a day to this disease the past few days. :( the obituary pages are full.

Struggling along with my math ... I was curious what the Europeans are paying for gasoline.

Liters to gallon. Euros to dollars. Ugh, Euronews has information only a day or two old ... convert/convert

Struggle struggle ... I came up with $9.13 per gallon in some parts of Germany. Good Gravy that can't be right! How am I gonna check my math?

Well, here's the Stars & Stripes. I'm reading along thinking how these prices in the article are not profit-driven. You have to be in the military service or a family member to buy at the gas station. Then, I arrive at the final line in the article.

Wow. $9.12 per gallon, off base.

3/146991406349632,44390930

there are still a fair number of people getting sick but this is winding down compared to where we were two months ago.

average number of cases 440ish over the past 3 days. much better than 20,000
