Hi barefoot okie, :welcome

Manure tea is very easy, just dump some poo in a container of water and leave it to "mature" -- somewhere a long way from where you usually sit :sick Don't leave it near your neighbors either -- Well not unless you hate them :ya

When it gets very stinky it's ready. That will be about 3 weeks I should think. It's hard to tell you how much, or how strong, as it depends on which poo you use & how strong it "brews". It should look like very week black tea. I would not use it on young seedlings.

I make a variation that my grandfather used to make -- put an equal amount of torn up nettles, poo plus some elder leaves in the water. He used to add urine for good measure but I don't do that (being a polite English lady).......!!! :idunno

GOOD LUCK, you might have to wear a clothes-peg on your nose but it's worth it :happy_flower

Hattie the Hen's post brought back some memories for me. My grandmother used to make this and I had pretty much forgotten about it.

Her method was to send me out to the pasture to gather up old dried cow pattys in a croker sack. She would put them in a bucket of water for about a week or so and then use the liquid. Seems like she cut it with water too, instead of just using it straight from the bucket. Sorry I don't remember how much 'tho.

I made a Manure Tea container out of an old Igloo Drink Dispenser.

It holds about 10 gallons.

What I did was to use an old pillowcase as the "tea bag." I put the manure in the bag. I use a small piece of wire to keep it closed. And it has a drawstring at the top, that I use to keep the bag from going to the bottom of the container. Then I fill the container with water, and wait a couple of weeks.

At first I dilute the tea before putting it on the plants. I use about a 1/4 of the tea in a gallon of water. I add more water when it gets low. And when the Tea is looking "weak"... I take out the bag, put the manure at the base of one of my trees, or on the compost pile. And start the process all over again with a new batch of manure. I usually use steer manure I buy at the store.

So if you have chiken poop with the pillow case method how much chicken poop, fill the case up or maybe 1/2up,could I then put the tea in a spray type of dipenser and spray it on plants or base of plants or on the grass?I heard chicken poop is very strong.and when you say you use a 1/4 of the tea in a gallon of h20 to dilute it do you mean a 1/4cup of the tea out of the 10gallon igloo dispenser thing that you are making the tea in?

I used a variation of this method with my chicken poop. I had the wood chips and the poop mixed together, after a coop clean out. I put the chips in a barrel, with holes drilled in the bottom. I put the barrels in the garden (up on bricks) for the winter. The snow and rain washed the poop through the wood chips, very slowly. I moved the barrels around a couple of times, just to distribute the fertilizer. I think it worked out pretty well. You could speed the process up, by watering the barrels, if you were inclined... Enjoy!

Yes, I mean about 1/4 cup of the tea from the dispenser in a gallon of water. As you add more water to the dispenser, it dilutes the tea. So that after a while you use it just as it is out of the dispenser. By that time, you are ready to make a new batch.

I am not sure about using fresh chicken poop.... though I do at times put it in the garden. My violets LOVE it. I will have to take a photo of one of my violet plants that got some fresh chicken poop.. It is sooooooo happy, and HUGE!!
