I have seen this one. Yep, funny. But NO the family dog is NOT allowed to lick the dishes.

Funny video, I think Steve posted that awhile back.

The dogs don't clean dishes around here routinely, but on the occasion they do I rinse with hot water before putting them in the DW. (And that's dishwasher not Dear Wife :p )

BTW OldGuy, I liked your Youtube video. :)

We clean ALL our dishes with Soap and Water...the big male's name is Soap, and the female's name is Water. :plbb

Nah, I just can't see what all the fuss is about, really...all kinds of stuff ends up on my dishes...but they all get washed before we eat off 'em ;)

I'm the official plate licker around here. Peeper and Clevland sometimes lick them after me.

Cat's have antiviral venom, everybody knows that, right?

Just ask any cat.

I've tried to be a good boy but my self-control is weak this morning. I know it is a character flaw so I apologize in advance to anyone I may offend. This thread reminds me of a thread over on the chicken forum a while back. Barfy was eating chicken poop. Hes going to die!!! How can I stop this and save his life??????

My response was along the lines of it being perfectly normal for dogs to eat chicken poop. Most disease organisms are pretty species specific. It is highly unlikely a dog will get a serious disease from a chicken, just like it is highly unlikely a chicken will get sick from scratching and eating other animals poop.

Poop is full of highly concentrated partially digested nutrients. It is a great food source for many animals. I have absolutely no problem with my dogs eating chicken poop and see no reason to stop them.

I might feel differently if I French-kissed my dogs, but I dont so Im not worried about where their tongue has been.

That was adorable. I loved the looks on their faces when the "waitress" took their plates away. It looked like the were eating peaches? And what else? I was really surprised that they kept their heads out of the dish. And I worried a bit the whole way through that they would get poked in the eye with the fork! LOL

I let my dog lick the plate sometimes, if it's something ok for her to have (and won't make her gassy!) But only at her dish, after we're done...no begging from the table! I can wash and sanitize them well enough to not worry about it later. I am sure though there are some folks who would refuse a dinner invitation from me if given this information. ;)
