And then on the 12th-13th are the Perseids Meteor showers. Probably won't see much if the moon is out and still big.

I'm still stuck in town......wish we were already moved.......will have to look beyond the darn street light to see the moon......

But on a good note, the moon seems to rise in the middle of the street, so have a clear view of it!

Looks very tiny today, how does the moon end up looking larger or smaller? Is it actually further/closer or is it some kind of atmospheric thing?

The moon's orbit is oval, not a perfect circle. This is when the moon is closer to the earth. it looked pretty big last night but tonight is supposed to be cloudy. We'll see.

Has anyone's animals been acting strange the last couple of nights? One of my nervous dogs has been acting even stranger than normal. I think that might be the effects of the moon being closer.

Garbanzo, DD's dog, is back for a visit. She is the calmest dog with thunder storms I have ever known. She seems determined to sleep the first 12hrs she has been here and I bet she tries to go for another 12 ... Backyard behavior is still the same, hyperactive and vigilant.

Olivia the 7y-o chicken tried crowing for the first time we know about. That was just yesterday. Since the henhouse is completely open thru the summer, outdoor conditions may have more of an influence on her.

I am not sure it is the full moon or the shadows the full, bigger moon throws on the woods out back, but Cee Cee has been barking in the wee hours. That's not her normal behavior or she'd not be in the bedroom with us.

Of course, a few days ago it was the yipping of coyotes that had her barking in alarm, dratted dog!
