When I was still in the hospital and still under a nerve block, a nurse took me to a freestanding set of stairs to practice.
Pretty easy, going UP, left leg (supporting leg) steps up, then right leg meets on same step.
Going DOWN, right leg goes down first, then left leg joins.
I am verbally calling them out as I do steps.
I am still using a walker bc I do NOT want to fall!
PT's told me what happens if you damage the healing knee, so I take no chances.
I have been out 3x in the last week, and will be out again at the wednesday Village meeting, only 2 steps to negotiate.
DH (my Hero!!!) posted my agenda yesterday evening--has to be posted at least 48 hrs ahead of governmental meeting, so I didn't have to try to do this on my own.
As I said, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen ALL on the 1st floor.
Only have to do steps when I leave the house.
Went to DD's yesterday for Thanksgiving test turkey.
THEIR front steps are wide, are cement And have a wide cement railing on both sides.
DH and DD's are helping me up and down. Once up the stairs I walk 10 ft to the front door, so pretty safe and easy.
Btw, I gave them one of my pumpkins. Some squirrel has been eating on it.
Eldest DD (the Chef) wants to throw it in the background so it can grow next year.
I am DONE with my beige pumpkins!!
I wanna go back to the Blue pumpkins and bright orange pumpkins!!!

DD's write out a script and make a Christmas video for DH every year. It started over 10 years ago when Youngest DD, being a poor college student, didn't have much money to buy presents.
NEXT year there will be a part for my walker, probably a scary movie type of thing.
There are always out takes. A few years back, One out take was DD saying, I am finishing this on Christmas Eve.
THAT'S HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU!!!!

We cancelled our plans to do "Reds of Monticello" on Black Friday this year. My knee isn't quite up to it yet.
Instead DD's are planning an afternoon charcoterie (sp?) board with cheeses and lunchmeat and breads and tea and wine and...relaxing.
Youngest DD was bummed out last night. Her sister didn't get Black Friday off so nobody to go do (limited) shopping with as in the past.
She is going to get me an ungraded phone. It took 3 years for me to crack mine. Fell out of my pocket on the bathroom floor tile this summer. :somad
Crack in the corner, then slim side crack. I have minimized it with clear nail polish.
Made me think of 3 things:
1) yesterday total sponge bath and (me) washed my hair in the bathroom sink ALL BY MYSELF!!
2) used walker and a plastic 2 step ladder to sit on to clean the bathroom floor and put down clean rugs--Good workout!!
3) Movie, "Knives Out"
Main character, poor, has a cracked up cell phone glass cover

SO...apparently I was given "twilight" before wheeled to surgery, then they cut my ring off (so that swelling wouldn't damage my left ring finger and I gave permission), then surgeon used a portable xray machine to take xrays immediately after the surgery. Here are the xrays taken last week.
It isn't just an age thing.
Ya know, if I was a professional athlete you might be looking at the same photo.
