When I was still in the hospital and still under a nerve block, a nurse took me to a freestanding set of stairs to practice.
Pretty easy, going UP, left leg (supporting leg) steps up, then right leg meets on same step.
Going DOWN, right leg goes down first, then left leg joins.
I am verbally calling them out as I do steps.
I am still using a walker bc I do NOT want to fall!
PT's told me what happens if you damage the healing knee, so I take no chances.
I have been out 3x in the last week, and will be out again at the wednesday Village meeting, only 2 steps to negotiate.
DH (my Hero!!!) posted my agenda yesterday evening--has to be posted at least 48 hrs ahead of governmental meeting, so I didn't have to try to do this on my own.
As I said, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen ALL on the 1st floor.
Only have to do steps when I leave the house.
Went to DD's yesterday for Thanksgiving test turkey.
THEIR front steps are wide, are cement And have a wide cement railing on both sides.
DH and DD's are helping me up and down. Once up the stairs I walk 10 ft to the front door, so pretty safe and easy.
Btw, I gave them one of my pumpkins. Some squirrel has been eating on it.
Eldest DD (the Chef) wants to throw it in the background so it can grow next year.
I am DONE with my beige pumpkins!!
I wanna go back to the Blue pumpkins and bright orange pumpkins!!!
