Any suggestions on stopping the growth of an elm tree that was cut down to the stump? I have little elms growing all over my yard and in my garden. My back won't allow me to dig up the stump and roots.

Pruners
(clip)
Artist's Paint Brush
Round Up (at highest concentration recommended)
(dab, dab, dab . . .)

Wear gloves! Cover the cut immediately after clipping with the Round Up. Come back in a couple weeks and assess.

Hi Chris!!!

I HATE those evil little trees. The pods from the neighbor's sprouting in EVERYTHING. At least Kathy & Dave got rid of theirs in the front yard. Now if they would only nuke the ones in back :p

This guy was killing invasive camphor laurels, but the process should work on our evil elms...

Just a little note on the treatment described, the herbicide shouldn't be regular Roundup, there is one made specifically for trees and invasive vines, The Roundup one is called root and stump killer, and there are other brands that make herbicides specific to killing woody material.
The label on herbicides is the law, and I don't think it's wise or in peoples best interests to recommend a stronger than labeled dilution. Herbicides are a tool that should be used circumspectly, if the recommended dilution won't do the job, find another tool.
