"Reports of red wine's antioxidant powers were probably overblown," says Arthur Klatsky, MD. . .

Is the "current" thinking moving towards ALL antioxidant powers being overblown? Have I noticed some kind of shift in the nutrition world on this subject?

There is something of a "herd instinct" in every field. You can see it most easily in the financial . . .

It makes you wonder....

Makes me want to grow and eat my own food.

Eating more natural foods always made sense to me. Never went to egg whites, margarine, low-fat dairy products, caffeine-free coffee, soy-meats, etc. The real thing has been in the human diet for thousands of years so it stays in mine. Cooking at home cuts down on processed foods and unknown chemicals put into food. Off grandstand now!

Isn’t it interesting where these threads can go. I understood what Journey was saying about being careful with some of these topics, but I thought this might generate some conversation during a slow time on here. I think most of us are pretty good about having a discussion without getting our feelings hurt too much. I do like our mix of people.

Eggs yolks are good for you. Egg yolks are bad for you. Egg yolks are good for your. Egg yolks are bad for you.

Alcohol is bad for you. Alcohol (in moderation) is good for you. Alcohol is bad for you. Alcohol (in moderation) is good for you.

Glutens, antioxidants, coffee, all the other stuff, who knows what is really good or bad for you. I imagine our physical differences, allergies and immune system, probably differences in our digestive systems will give us all different responses. If you know of anything that specifically harms you avoid it. Otherwise I try for moderation and a balanced diet. I may not success but I try.

Did we have hurt feelings?

I'm an opportunity eater who is always just struggling not to eat every thing that comes to hand.

No value in my diet, not good food, difficult for my digestion, suspect ...

We have a different opinion in the same family.

DS had indigestion - it seemed quite severe. He went off to an MD who did a blood test & told him to avoid gluten & several other foods. He went to an allergist who did skin tests, telling him the blood tests were of no value. Allergist said he didn't have any food allergies. I think he has been back to his usual diet for about 4 or 5 months.

DD had hives. She went off to an MD who did a blood test & told her to avoid gluten & several other foods. The hives haven't entirely stopped showing up and she blames her wavering compliance. She is trying to make choices other than wheat & the other foods.

I'm trying not to tempt DD with foods she doesn't want to eat and trying not to pry into DS's decisions about his diet.

Please delete my prior comments on the subject. :duc I just realized ya'll were seeking EXPERT OPINIONS. No way I qualify here. :idunno I'll just mosey on to another topic and spread my non-professional opinions.

Far as I'm concerned you're as close to an expert as we have on here, except maybe for those that know beans.
