GMO (whatever that is??? Genetically Modified something, I'm assuming. ) vs. heritage, I don't really care. What I do find objectionable is the patenting of a seed, especially one that makes it more likely that you will sell more of another of your products! (In the case sited, Roundup.) A seed, by definition can be used to produce more seeds, and it doesn't care who plants it.
Yes a large corporation did spend a lot of money to "develop" this product, but they had an ulterior motive. PROFIT! Now don't misunderstand me, please. I have no problem with a business showing a profit. That's how they stay in business. My problem comes when they use the courts to improve their bottom line instead of building a better mouse trap.
Question: Why didn't Monsanto alter the seed to cause it to be sterile, than the problem of reusing it wouldn't have come up? The answer, in my opinion is that it's more profitable to sue people, and it makes it cheaper for them to produce next years supply.

Did you know that if you sing the Happy Birthday song in a restaurant you've violated copyright laws? You should have paid money to the company that owns the copyright, not the author. Do you know who it is that you're going to bankrupt by not paying the fee? Look it up for yourself. I already know who's being "cheated" out of their just due.
Yes, I know that the above has nothing to do with the topic at hand. I just thought it was an interesting comment on how ridiculous patent and copyright laws have gotten.
