It has rained a lot here starting Friday, every day downpours, but still warm weather. Today when I went to the garden to observe the holes we dug for peppers and tomatoes, now filled with water, :barnieI realized the rest of the garden was perking right along.:) Pole beans are up, bush beans are up, cucumbers are up, baby peppers on the Marconis, several ripe and almost ripe strawberries, kale and chard is ready to start picking, broccoli has baby heads on it.
I picked the strawberries then covered the whole patch with green netting to keep the birds out. Also picked chard and the little broccoli for supper, as it was trying to flower already.
Unfortunately the weather has turned hot and humid, so that takes some of the joy out of gardening.

Rain evens out my sprinkler irrigation. I don't have much experience with growing season rain anymore so I'm just talking through my hat ... and, looking forward to the 90%chance we have for Wednesday :).

The "limiting factor" is water in my garden. I really try for adequate and even cultivation, fertilizing and irrigation -- what happens? The plants which consistently receive the most water through sprinkler placement, grow best.

Gosh, the midwest must be drowning. I watch the weather every day cus DD and family are near Little Rock. I can't imagine growing anything when it rains almost every day.

My sister in Nashville told me Saturday it hadn't rained there for 21 days. I think they may have gotten a drop or two Sunday. It has rained buckets since I started this thread. Raining right now! We got one nice day but the wind was really cold, then more rain. I'm growing webbed feet.:(

We've had rain almost every day. East Texas has been hammered with floods, hail and tornados. It has been unseasonably cool, plants I set out said BRRRR, shrugged their little leaves around themselves and refused to grow. Soooo... the WEEDS grew! Plants finally started growing, I'll pull weeds next week.

I've had trouble getting the garden in between bouts of rain. I've had too much running to do here lately sucking up my time at home when we have had nice days. More rain late tonight, so I'm going to do what I can manage to get done today. I've been potting up the peppers and tomatoes I started from seed until I can get them in the ground. If I can get beans and corn planted this evening, I'll be doing well.

Raining again today. High of 72*. That's crazy. Barely getting to a high of 80* all week. May is supposed to be hot.
