I was wonderrriiiing.

GWR was right about the look of things. I was out and about at 6 and saw no frost on roofs. The weather underground had 40°f for nearest to big garden before I left and warmer a little earlier.

Washing frost off may work. Freezing is partly a dehydration process. Best of Luck!

:( Nothing is dead, but all the tomatoes got burned. The peppers as well. Oh and the tiny pumpkin seedlings that had just leafed out with their first pair of true leaves.
Double dang. The peppers are mine, but the tomatoes and pumpkins are the kids. I don't think the pumpkins are going to survive.
I'm feeling very discouraged about the success of their garden this year.

I've been working like a machine and when I get home I'm tired and dirty and don't really want to do any more gardening. I knew I should have just left the frost cloth on everything. :hit

A few years ago, I gave away frost burned tomatoes that were still in pots. I've related the story before, they were moved from a heated greenhouse where I needed more room to the unheated hoop house over the garden beds. First night - zap!

Anyway, a few died and quite a few lost tops. The person who took them was confident that they would be okay. I was just dismayed and didn't want to look at them.

She was right. When I saw them later in the season, they were nice, healthy plants. Productive, too!

Keep your chin up, Thistle'. Treat them like they had a little stumble. Stand them upright, give them a bath, let them sleep late through the weekend ...

Dog gone it Thistle. I know how hard you're working and how much it means to you. I'm so sorry this happened to you. But like Steve says, the season isn't over yet. Hope your tomatoes come through and ripen earlier than usual. Hugs my friend. :hugs
