I am in Northwest Louisiana Zone 8a. Any folks out there in this area and what do you use as your last frost free date? I used March 15.

What date did you start your tomato's? What date are you going to set them out? I started my Beefsteak a little early on Jan 26 and they are 4" tall, think I may set them out April 1 if they will wait that long.

I started them on Feb 7th. They just sprouted last night and today. I'll put them in the garden the last week in March, covering them with 2 liter bottle hotcaps for the first week or so. I do the same with peppers and eggplant.

Well, I guess I will copy what you have planned to do. On your 2 liter bottles, do you just cut the bottom out of them and put them over the plant? How long do you do that, just at night and take off during day?

Yes, just cut the bottom off and put it over the plant. I make sure the screw cap off during the day and put it back on at night (this allows condensation to escape) for the first few days, then I remove the bottle during the day and put it back at night for the rest of the week. After that I take them off but keep them handy in case we get a freak freeze. Hope this works for you.
