Beavis,

Those are great markers!! Especially good for large, permanent plantings like trees. How great to know when a tree was planted!!
I have two huge pine trees, I figure one was planted in the 1950's, and the other in the 1960's. But I am only guessing.

ok mine was made out of what i had within reach .. rocks and crayons ..

Those work great... you should definitely seal those rocks with outdoor rated polyurithane and they'll last you years and years... even with crayon!!! :)

A couple years ago, I scored a bunch of old teacup saucers at a tag sale. I buried them half-way and marked the plant names right on the china with oil-based paint pens. Worked great and looked great in the cottage-style gardens.

Oh- I love the saucer idea!! Do you have any pics? I am definitely going to copy that one! They would be adorable in the herb garden, for sure!!
