But there is another bird that has brought luck to my garden.
It was a few years ago. Then I planted maize many times, but I did not grow. I do not know why. And I stopped it sow.
In that year we had a very cold Christmas. - 22 ° F. It is cold even for us!
In the evening, it was dark, but I heard a slight noise on the balcony. As if someone knocked. I thought that it seemed to me. After all, I live on the 8th floor. But then the noise came again.
Twice I went out on the balcony, but did not see anything. Then I dressed warmly, found the lantern. And in the corner, behind the glass, on the edge of a narrow cornice, I saw a little white dove. He miraculously clung to the ledge and pressed to the window. His eyes were closed.
Immediately there was a problem, how to catch him, so he did not fall and flew in the cold. He could have been killed. I opened the window, but he waved his wings, and I was afraid that it will fly away. I will not tell you how I caught it. Circus artists might to envy of me! But he was so cold, that did not resist when I took it in hand.
I had an old hamster cage. We poured to sawdust, put the water. Soon dove he warmed up and became more fun. There is a new problem-it's food. My grandfather and father once kept pigeons. So I know the composition of the feed. In the morning at the pet store, I found the perfect diet. It was food for large parrots "Captain Flint."
He lived with us until the heat. He made himself at home. Then I found him a new home. Part of the remaining food, we spread in bird and squirrel feeders. Only the grain corn - strong and large. Of course, I had them planted in the spring. That's a corn I dreamed! Cobs dense, sweet, bushes- like trees! Even in the late autumn, we dug them out of difficulty. So the dove found his new home, and I made friends with corn! Since that time I have it grows without any problems!

Nice story I had pigeons a few years back. I had fantails they look like mini turkeys. I was wondering about planting some black oil sunflower seed I buy for the bird feeder.

Wonderful story about your dove.

My daughter had two Birmingham Roller pigeons. Of course, I became the person who took care of them. Teresa lasted 9 years and out-lived her mate. So, she found a boyfriend among the wild pigeons that lived on the nearby school building.

He moved right into the coop! And, he couldn't find his way out the pigeon door, at first. So, he had a few days to become settled before discovering how Teresa was getting in and out.

She was killed by a hawk not too many months later. How she lived so many years without such a bad end was probably because she wasn't flying off all the time to hang out with the Wild Bunch. But ... it was her choice.

So the nightingale sings.
That is a talented little guy!!!

It is unfortunate for Teresa.
Hawk and falcon- danger to pigeons. But I've seen many times when these predators approaching, climbs into the sky a flock of crows and chases them. But I do not think that her boyfriend be bored for a long time. Pigeons live in pairs, but quickly found a new one.

Yesterday I was in the garden center. There are already selling everything for the new season. Each week there will be something new. So i want to spring!
My peppers are growing. Growth stimulants did not give any effect. All peppers are the same. "Without stimulants" are no different.

Courgettes I plant in May into the ground. They grow easily. They grow a lot. Some of them I cook with other vegetables. Of the other cook jam with orange and lemon.

Yes, we have a big humidity. Often fog. In August, it can be a hot day and cold night. Therefore, we spray the plants from diseases. And in the spring against insects.
