Wellp, after almost getting one of the camper's camps raked I finally finished round of of my seed planting today. On my list of before I had forgotten to mention the gold and the white teparies from Tierra Madre farms, and the Scherazi Tobacco.

Today I planted my selection of Rattlesnake pole beans, 25 seeds, and High Mowing Seed's selection of Rattlesnake pole beans, also 25 seeds. My selection has a lighter colored background on the seeds, and I know the pods are extremely tender. I am growing both to compare how 7 years of tight selection makes a difference. It does!

I also planted Flor de Mayo beans. A dozen or so are planted separately from the others. That group came from a plant that made true perfect cutshort pods.

I planted 63 Tarahumara Purple Ojos bean seeds too. That variety is one of the coolest. The pods are pinkish red, they begin ripening in mid september, and the seeds are almost unbelievable to describe. Deep dark purple with yellowish beige circles.

Now I'm out of space! Think I'll make another bed extension or two!

These are the largest plants in there: green & red bok choy and mustard greens.

Coffeeing up before cutting a Madrone. I'll use its wood to make another bed. Gotta change the chain on my saw first. Madrones really wear on saws. Old chain will not sharpen straight anymore.

My garden has to be Fort Knox.

The top gets an aerial attack from the birds, and it is not the Ravens, it's those cute little Mountain Chickadees, Towhees, Juncos. They love growing tips and shoots, and would clean the garden out of seedlings entirely if uncovered. I have to make sure there are no gaps for them to get through.

Chicken wire on the sides stops the Deer and the Elk.

The entire bottom is netted also, but will not stop the gophers other than a random surfacing.

Autumn Beauty Sunflower seedling. This patch was planted with only the black seeds.

It's a glorious spring day in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts. Trees are finally starting to open. Plants are lush and thriving after a few days of rain. Spring bloomers are brightening the day.
