Owwww! I've been outside all morning working in the garden, but I had to come inside, because a HUGE chunk of mud hit me in the eye!

Ouch! I washed it out for a long time, but it still hurts. There were a lot of little pieces of dirt stuck in it.

Who would think gardening could be so dangerous?

Been there, done that! What makes you a real gardener is you go right back out and do it again! LOL

Today's progress -

I put 4 new raised beds in. 3 in the flower garden and 1 in the veggie garden. Dug out perennials from the veg. side of the yard, so I could move the raised bed into that spot, and planted the perennials in the 3 new flower beds.

Dug up parsnips and moved dirt and picked up yard junk.

Picked up 10" x 1" x 13' rough cut boards yesterday for our raised beds for $7.50 each... the beds will be 4' x 8'... got them all painted with boiled linseed oil today and squared up...tomorrow we will be putting them together...Have started my seeds this week in the house and have Zinnias already up...

Catalina, Loved your silkie-flower!!! :D I feel the same about my chickens -- they bring the garden alive for me! Mine are a bit larger as I love Dorkings. They were sun-bathing yesterday, stretching out on their sides on the grass -- they look so funny doing that
I must get my camera sorted out to take some photos!

I love that sweet picture! My silkies are so funny, they look like bunny rabbits with the fluffy tail feathers sitting around the yard.

Hattie, thats funny about how they like to spread out, yesterday my teenage son came outside and saw the chickens spread out on their sides laying in dirt holes they had dug along a flower bed.
Some of them had one wing up in the air trying to air out their armpits
He took a look at them and came over to tell me he thought something was wrong with my chickens.
They were just sunbathing but he didn't believe me, he kept saying it looks like your chickens are dying.
