Gas or Electric?

I wonder if you could can on it? Somehow I'd be skeptical. With my current gas range the top is plenty strong enough to hold a big pot full of heavy water and produce. With my last Whirlpool electric I got a special coil that was reinforced for the weight and was raised a bit to not cause a heat build-up in the top of the range.
Not with your current canner pot. It is a special metal that is used. But perhaps they have an adaptor for your old pots.

That was from the wall plug, tho, not from a burner, right? I guess some people can start a fire with anything. This summer my DH was showing one of the grand daughters how to start a fire with your glasses in the sun. I was thinking "Oh no, she's the wrong one to show something like that!"
