Red I think you have a winner!!!! He lived though Depression, so frugal cards and stamps he would welcome!! Mary Iike plant suggestion but he is flying in, so must be something he can pack easy.
Then the card assortment and stamps might just be the ticket. :)

cards, et all was a great idea!

Also maybe some wonderfully smelling lotion? At 90, the senses, esp the nose (and tastebuds), are greatly reduced, so a strong scent is necessary.

A "strong scent" might be needed for the nonagenarian to notice the scent, but it is no blessing to those who visit, help, or live with them. If they can smell the scent, you most likely can taste it. Yuck!

Love Red's idea...perfect gift for the still mobile and active elderly. Another is a small first aid kit. They tend to get skin tears if you breath on them at that age and having a kit handy can really help. They have the cold paks in them now, butterfly strips, gauze, etc. and all the essentials for a small injury if one should fall, tear the skin, etc.

Three cheers for Smart Red!!!! So THAT'S where her name came from.... :clap I'm so glad he liked it!

My mother is 80 and she's one of those kind of old folks too...it's a delight to be around her. :love She's going to take horse back riding lessons this spring because she's always wanted to since she was a little girl. It's going to be a hoot...she'll have to fit it in around her line dancing, square dancing, maintaining her property, and all the other sundry things she does.

Here's a pic of her patching the shed roof the day after her 80th birthday...

And just the other day when I caught her up top again..."just checking out the roof of the house"....
