My mother is 80 and she's one of those kind of old folks too...it's a delight to be around her.She's going to take horse back riding lessons this spring because she's always wanted to since she was a little girl. It's going to be a hoot...she'll have to fit it in around her line dancing, square dancing, maintaining her property, and all the other sundry things she does.
Here's a pic of her patching the shed roof the day after her 80th birthday...
And just the other day when I caught her up top again..."just checking out the roof of the house"....
I want to be her when I grow up....

My MIL was quite a woman. She took care of her mother until she was 72 and needed surgery herself and her daughters insisted that 94 year old great gram go to a nursing home. She rode the bus to visit with her mother almost every day for the next 5 years.
At nearly 90, she was asking me for new ways to cook meals suitable for the ailing son she cared for. Still lived at home, still baked the best pies, and still preserved produce from my garden and orchard. Like her son is, she was a keeper!

I've met many a 90+ woman like that in these WV mountains and it always makes my heart warm to see it. Those are my favorite kind of people and I could listen to them for hours as they have such stories to tell, of hard lives, hard work, little pleasures and old timey humor.
