My big box of potatoes arrived Wednesday (!!!) and since I'm getting a later start than I planned for I decided not to chit them and plant them out yesterday.

I had a big plot of brush mowed and tilled last fall and that is this years potato patch. It's still pretty rough with roots and rocks but I didn't have the time to wait on getting it tidier.

Here's my potato patch early this spring. Had to de-moose it.

I really thought I'd have more than enough room and even get some other stuff in that area, but nope. I crowded them as usual  and used all but one bed up for spuds. I really need to stop doing that. One of these years.

So, I'm so excited! I got 30 pounds in; 5 pounds of Rose Finn fingerlings, 5 pounds of Purple Vikings, and 20 pounds of Marris Piper.

I'm hoping for 300 pounds of yield, and that would take us most of the way to the next harvest.

Then I got 100 pepper plants in, and a small portion of tomatoes, the rest will maybe go in tomorrow.

Then I got the coop cleaned, and the chicken feed area reorganized, 4 loads of laundry washed and hung on the line, some miscellaneous weeding (that's way overwhelming if I look at the amount remaining ), the perimeter border of the lawn tilled,
a few outlying areas that the weeds haven't taken over raked ( makes me feel better to look at it ) and the house vacuumed and dinner made. And then I sat down.

It was great fun, being out from sun up to sun down and getting so much accomplished in one day. It's been aggravating to my mind to have so much that needs doing here and not being here to do it.

Once I get caught up ( yeah right ) it won't be a marathon every Saturday. Then maybe I can sit in the garden and drink iced tea
and just enjoy it. :)

Good Grief!!! You got more done in one day than I get done in a month! Whatever you're taking, I want some!

Yeah, I know what you mean about the frustration. I used to do my best housecleaning when I was mad at my DH. As I get older, I don't get mad as much and my house shows it!

Thistle, I'm exhausted just hearing all that you did! You make me feel lazy. All I did was go to a baptism and reception afterwards and go on a 45 min. bike ride with my husband.:) I did cook dinner (which is rare for me to do on the weekends) and watched our granddaughter for a couple hours.

Well if I used my time that efficiently all the time this place would be gorgeous! And I confess, dinner was just egg and bacon burritos.

I believe all of it except the part about sitting down and having iced tea.

I was going to ask for whatever you were taking too! Excellent work, thistle! I hope you will be able to walk in the morning... A couple years ago an elderly friend (just turned 90) was visiting and she saw a garden bench in my yard- she looked at it, and she looked at me- and she said, "make sure you spend a little time sitting on that bench." Honest to God, I hadn't sat on it- and it was August. I am not saying I spend a lot of time sitting in the garden, but I regarded that as sage advice- so I do try to sit down and enjoy the view, now and then. So, my friend, make up a batch of iced tea tomorrow- and sit a spell. You deserve it!

Wow thistle, you were a busy lady! I know what you mean about never being caught up - there is always something to be done. I don't seem to ever have time to sit and enjoy, but I think we all need to make time.
