I had really great back up email for Nancy too get this oss op. But was messed around by one member of staff even though the request from the caring dedicated holistic nurse asked that I specifically spoke to the vet and the vet directly.

This person made it really impossible for us too be in contact. Then a second person promised a call but likely didn't pass that message on and the call never came.

I've landed up with terrific shoulders neck and headache pain. Waking up stressed after two hours sleep, their messing around ruined our entire day yesterday preventing all that needed to be done

Now i have to cancel tomorrow to wait again for a call that probably won't come because of these dreadful staff that are an insult to the vets profession

Why do these vets employ oger's . They cause so much harm to animals, just like that vile so called vet, the woman that prevented my cat from getting the help that he so desperately needed.

We pay 10 times over the limit for our animals treatment. How dare they abuse us and neglect our animals like this.

if I can't get this operation I'll likely lose her.

Why would you lose her?
She needs this operation too calm her. I cannot risk her making off and having more puppies. She could easily escape she very fast and I desperately trying to organise this operation. But I'm promised calls that are not coming.
I cannot physically make it hundreds of miles away, plus I don't think she could cope with are 6 to 8 different changes of public transport.

Oh, I see. You expect she will escape if she’s not spayed.

I know you are anxious to give her the best surgery possible, but given the circumstances, I think the conventional spay surgery would be good enough. She seems to be old enough that she’s past the bone growth plate closing period. Yes, I do believe it’s in dogs’ best interest to keep their ovaries/and the associated hormones that their endocrine system depends on. But millions and millions of dogs have been spayed and neutered for many decades, and most of them lived long healthy lives.

If the choice is between hypothetical and potential problems that may or may not occur in the future, and the very likely possibility that she might escape and get lost, hurt or killed in the current time period, then I would opt to just go ahead and have her spayed conventionally. It would be easier for you all around and you can rest assured that the vets who perform it have lots of experience, making it a fairly safe procedure. All 3 of the female dogs I have owned were spayed, so it’s not like I am suggesting you do something I wouldn’t do.

I hope you will be able to find some peace of mind over this.

Thank you 😊
You must have a crystal ball. It's been seriously bothering me.

This is the most loving girl, but she can fly off in a heartbeat. Bless her, I had too growl at her today, she wanted to chase the cat but thankfully she stopped in an instant. But I can't always count on that.

Have you looked online about dog training? Most dogs Want to be obedient--especially those who truly understand being rescued from horrible circumstances, like your Rose.
Sit.
Stay.
Come.
These aren't too hard to teach. Repeated often with first treats and then just cuddles makes a Biiiigggg difference in behavior.
Also, I always like to walk on a choke chain, which makes You stronger with your signals.
If you dedicate yourself to training her for the next YEAR I don't think she'll want to run off.
I have two examples, one that I have witnessed, farmer with two Austrailian Shepherds who greeted me, no tail wagging, when I picked up hay, then sat down and Watched me as sentries.
The other, was the Stallion Abdullah, Trakehner, warmblood horse breed. I read about him in Practical Horseman, many years ago
Abdullah was trained in an Olympic sized arena which was surrounded by broodmare pastures. He was trained to be obedient with his normal halters, and he was trained to breed with his "fuzzy halter."
Looking at his size I believe that he weighed over 1,300 lbs, which is a LOT more than your Rose.
When you walk Rose outside of your home, be firm about her obedience! Of Course, lots of love, but this is hard love.
She Will respond to you bc of your kindness. Dogs are hard wired to please!
I let Eva go too long before she was spayed so I Know what it looks like when female dogs go into heat, and when she is in heat, be extra cautious.
I watch my SIL and her out of shape collies. They are not at all vicious, they are slow, but they are Not at ALL obedient.
Most dog owners have NO IDEA how much joy there is for you and your dog(s) when they have been properly trained.

Eva needs more training, but when you say, "Eva, sit," she Loves to come to you and sit on your feet.

I vote for the conventional spay. I know you are trying to do the best for your precious new friend, but the search is becoming a hardship. Too far away, way too expensive and stressful.

Good point on proper training @ducks4you . An old dog CAN learn new tricks, or any dog at any age. My Anatolians sit and wait when I set their food in front of them. I can talk, sing, but they are not allowed to eat until I say Take It. Sometimes they won’t eat until I pet them and repeat Take It.

Leash training is top of the list followed by Come. Invest some time in her training, setting her up for success, in small steps.

My Anatolians are NOT treat driven. They respond to heaps of praise. You have a sweet dog that will respond to treats and praise, that makes training much easier.

I read that spay article. It makes conventional spay sound like a horror story. The millions of spayed and neutered dogs live good lives free from illness. Heck, I’m spayed! Hysterectomy at age 38 and I’ve never taken hormones. According to that article I should be crippled, blind, drooling, incontinant, deaf, or dead by now.

Go ahead and have the conventional spay for your dog. It outweighs your fears of her coming in heat, getting away and getting pregnant.
