That's because we didn't plan to be in anything but a long term drought. No, we have to build a trillion dollar hi speed rail system, which is not needed, that is behind schedule with cost overruns. No, we have to be trying to cede from the USA like crazy people. No, we have to fight against all that America stands for, by threatening to hide the illegals. We have a Governor who rails against the new President, and then goes begging when things get tough.

WOW, and I thought everyone on the left coast wanted all these things.
I'm glad to see I was wrong!!!

I think in some areas it is illegal to collect rain water. Didn't we have a thread on this? or maybe it was SS.

Yes you're right, I remember it too. I think it was a member in AZ?

I don't understand the logic behind that restriction.
If you collect it to use on your garden then it's still going to end up in the ground water isn't it? You're just managing it's final percolation.

The lake level is now 21' below the spillway . I guess evacuees are returning home.

We are having freezing rain this morning. It should warm soon because this is a big, warm airmass although it's still waaay below freezing in MT's mountain valleys.

The Amtrak train was stuck in MT the last snow storm. Passengers had to be bussed to Spokane. I checked the snowpack and it was 150% of normal. It's more like 100% around here although that western MT water comes this way and into the Columbia. If'n we don't try to put a stop to it.

Steve, the Grapevine had wind of 105 miles per hour! Santa Barbara, which is a very pricey area, has been hit hard with over 10 inches of rain.

Another NorCal storm making the news.

Big Sur is a rugged area along the Coast. Cut by erosion, it has nonetheless "healed" well and is just a beautiful place. What I'm wondering about is this "Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge" that is now closed. Which bridge is it ( @ninnymary , someone ?)

If I was still living there instead of having drifted (toddled) off during the 50's, I would know if it is the beautiful Bixby Canyon Bridge:

Bixby Creek Bridge.jpg

Isn't that pretty?!! I was born not far from there and don't make it back to this part of our wonderful world often enough.

The Pfeiffer Bridge was closed about a week ago, then opened for emergencies with CHP transport and now closed again. Try as I might, I can't figure out if this is the same 80 year old bridge with a different name or somewhere different. And, I don't understand why it was necessary to have a few days of allowing 1 car at a time, pedestrian traffic, and all the talk in the newspapers about people being "cut off" and needing helicopter transport soon :hu.

If this is the same bridge or a different one on Highway 1, it doesn't connect to a cul-de-sac ! Can't go north, go south ... can't go south, go north. Anyway, there is some bridge that is now unusable after the repeat storms. You can see pictures of Pfeiffer bridge on any number of newpaper websites - the underside, at least. I can't imagine that one will be back in use but would hate to see the loss of the one in the picture!

Oh, and San Pedro Reservoir upstream from Modesto is flowing into its emergency spillway. There isn't any story on an erosion problem there. And, Oroville Dam is said to be "stable." The repairs there, dams elsewhere, and the Sacramento River dikes must be getting a real test.

Yes we are not suppose to collect water, in this case I do it to stop Erosion, that should be OK with everyone.
I completely forgot the name, something like swarls. I have them out back~kinda like a gouge across the perpendicular to the lay of the land but tipped down a bit ending in a hole or ketch. If I get a chance I'll take a picture.

I guess it isn't Swaral cause look what I found when I looked that work up:

www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Swarals
Top Definition. Swarals. A cocky son of a bitch. You're such a Swarals.
