Marshall, you nailed it! You described us to a "T" I am glad we have this awesome forum to gather on and share our experience and INexperience! We all have something to contribute. All of you that don't socialize much, let us hear from you!

HA!! Perfect! :clap

Lets plan a bbq. I'll provide some chicken (rooster.. actually)
Marshall has the beans (if that's what you want to 'bring'.

Who else is coming and what are you bringing?

See what I mean, all kinds here!

I'll bring the Beans, but Russ will probably bring better ones, and heck, probably a couple Wanigan Bean recipes, and Monty'll do the main part of the barbecuing.

We'll put Rebettzin in charge of some of the gourmet goodies, but heck, most of the cute gardening chicks know gourmet stuff...

I'll be the one SHUSSHED out of the kitchen! (As usual!)

The new girl should bring her Impatiens!

Hopefully by then I'll have my bright shiny new little dentures, and I'll be able to brighten things up after it gets dark by setting the coleman lantern near my mouth!!!

:thumbsup

...and i'll sneak up behind bobm and seedcorn and put patchouli oil under their collars so they smell like hippies!

...then i'll run for dear life!!!

Patchouli oil! (barf) I lived in San Diego from 1966 through 1973 (1969 & 1970 in San Fransisco) and if I caught a whiff of patchouli now I think I would up-chuck. It reminds me of human perspiration that has remained in an armpit for three months. Excuse me while I go use the toilet.

Patchouli oil! . . .
You know, there is always ongoing research into pest repellents . . .

DD brought us a spray bottle of . . . I guess they are called them "air fresheners" :p She is in to that sort of thing. I just wish she'd pay more attention to her cooking ;). But anyway, a little like patchouli oil, it has such a pleasantly warm evergreen scent ~ ~ ~

We are cautioned about using cedar shavings in some situation but I'm thinking of putting down shavings in the house next winter. How about on the patio at the shindig?

Steve :D
edited to add something positive about patchouli . .

Patchouli oil! Momma always said if you cant' say something nice........;)

Its funny for the most part my sense of smell is pretty fried from so many years in EMS (it will be 13 years in April) but that's one of those things that seems to hit me like a Mack truck. Although I think the truck experience might be more pleasurable the jury's still out that. But hey if you like it wear it proudly.

I would probably bring something from here http://www.amazon.com/The-Charcuter...627896&sr=8-1&keywords=The+Art+of+Charcuterie with some crackers, a couple different cheeses and some grapes (once I can get some planted! :p ) while we're waiting on Monty and Major Catfish to work their magic with the smokers. Trying to do something a little different. Or could bring venison roast, or duck breasts, or maybe a wild turkey to smoke? Anybody got a goose they want to part ways with? (Mmmm smoked goose :drool)

Anybody got peaches? Grill some of those up and put over some homemade vanilla ice cream. We've got blueberry syrup that would be good too if we're short on peaches. Its great on pancakes and waffles but its also fantastic on ice cream, pour that over them with some whole blueberries both that we picked over the summer.

Of course we'd need a roaring bonfire to hang around, any musicians in the group?

Jared, you gotta keep that bonfire away from my shavings!!

Goose!?? Boy, that's a good use for them!

I gave up a garden last year after putting up with the neighbor's geese for 3 years! I learned to almost hate those things. I used to think they might be useful. Dang. I don't know what for - barbeque? Yeah, they got out several times in my garden . . . more than that, I had the continual "threat" of the silly critters, going & coming. I parked the pickup right beside their smelly pen. Now, that's a real unpleasant thought - I'm putting down some shavings . . .
