I bought a pair of those metal cleat Velcro fastening things to put over shoes, for when we get any ice. If I can remember where I put them. But I think most accidents happen when we don't think of there being any ice, and there is some.

OMG, Red. A broken nose, and bum knee? Take care of yourself. How is your husband doing? Is there family around to coddle you a bit?
Coddle? Are you kidding? Actually, I'm the one who refuses to be coddled. "Suck it up" and get on with things is my motto especially when my attention is needed by the family.

I did lay down Saturday with my head below my pillow to stop the bleeding and ended up with a nap, but the bleeding was come and go when I drove DH and Maverick to the donut shop.

Today I am decked out in my finest Raccoon outfit. Oh, the stories that could be told. . . . Of course DH is concerned, but I'm doing quite well, thank you, and where I'm not I pretend, so that takes a lot of worry off his mind.

Oh ouch, I hurt just thinking about it. Take care, @Smart Red , I hope you heal quickly!, and the damage isn't worse than you are thinking.

Those ice drip areas are the worst. The ice seems to make a mound, you hit it and no matter what you do, you're going down. I have that by my garage door now and I should get out and throw a bit of salt before I end up on my rear again.

It wasn't a rosy day for my grandson either. Daughter just called from the ER. They were at the Dells yesterday and 2yo GS was playing monkey see monkey do with 5yo GS, which never ends well. He broke two bones in his foot jumping from bed to bed...after they had been scolded and warned... darn little monkeys.:\

How terrible for the little one! Will he need a cast? What does this mean for the adults in the family? Day care might not want him for a while.

Beds can be dangerous, especially those with high mattresses like I have. I broke my 2 yo grandson's arm. He was falling off and I grabbed the closest body part. Perhaps he wouldn't have gotten hurt at all if he landed on the floor, but then again, it could have been his head.

Today I feel like the exercise 'song' from grade school. What hurts?
My head, my shoulders, my knees, my toes;
My head, my shoulders, my knees, my toes;
My head, my shoulders, my knees, my toes,
They all hurt together.

Poor little guy. I say all day long to my grandsons "You're not allowed to get hurt at Grandma's house." I must say they are wilder when the parents are here. No bad injuries jet. A black eye or two-but not with me.

Get better soon. Did you have your self looked a? When caring for others we sometimes ignore doctors visits. He needs you well.

They put a boot on it. Tomorrow she has to take him to an orthopedic specialist at Childrens Hosp. to see if it needs a cast. She said he was such a trooper, after they took the x-ray and came back in, he put his feet back up and said 'more pictures'. :) Luckily, she has a very understanding and accommodating home daycare.

My poor daughter can relate to your guilt with your little one, @Smart Red. She was pregnant and carrying her #2 son, then 18mo, and slipped on the ice on the steps leaving the house. She was holding the rail but ended up falling on his foot, breaking his ankle. I didn't think she would ever stop crying and feeling guilty.
