Have You Ever failed With a Indestructible Perennial ?

I was surprised when I cut down my mildewed bee balm, it came back and bloomed again and looked fine. Just couldn't stand that awful mess, and surprise!
I just might cut down 1/2 and see what happens!

Thinning it out can help with the mildew problem. Like with phlox, I try to pinch out the shorter shoots that probably won't flower anyway. It opens it up for air circulation and the other stalks grow bigger with larger flowers. If it's a real wet humid year the mildew might just strike anyway though.

Good tip on cutting it back for a re-bloom @lesa !
