Hey Marshall, you wanted to see what sort of hosta I was planting along the side of the house.
These stay dark green, although they come up with a shoot that starts off purple. They have very deep veins in in the leaves and it will get HUGE. The mound will be at least 2' if not close to 3' by the time it's done.

Just getting started

Also have 3 of these. They also get really big, but not as dense.

Thanks. I'll post another once they get all big - if the dogs don't get them first.

It occurs to me that we haven't seem many pictures of your garden. Why don't you show us some of your hard work?

This new laptop is more difficult with pictures without my windows photo gallery, but ok, I'll do that in a day or 2.

Hey Cane we have something similar to that at our house, they get that big too. I really like them. They came with the house and I'll be dividing them up before we leave. Ours are that green color and we have a blue variety. Identical leaf shape but just a blue phase. Very similar to a blue spruce in color. They are a nice compliment to the green ones.

I used to have a blue one but the dogs killed it. Maybe one day I'll pick up another. It DOES go really well with the green. Together they make quite a statement. If you ever divide up the blue - and have a piece left over with no where to plant - I'd love to have some.

Speaking of that. I had probably 6 or 7 pieces left of the green. Anyone nearby want some? I stuck them in the ground behind the dog house - just to get them back in the ground.

I really NEED to learn how to post photos!

I have a bed with over 30 different varieties of hosta - guarded by reptiles and amphibians - in front of the wood shop. Most of the plants are still rather small since I keep sharing pieces, but they do well there. Just got that bed cleaned out from winter's mess today.

Posting was always so difficult and time consuming with dial-up that I just didn't bother. I'm sure it would work better with my new internet service if I take the time to follow directions and figure it out.

Hey Red, can you load/save pictures onto your computer? If so - then you're almost there already.
Heres what I see (your computer might be different)
In the green bar - next to 'Recent Posts' is 'Uploads'. When you click on that a new window opens that looks like this:
8721_upload_help_1.jpg

Then you click on the Browse button and locate the picture on your computer. For me it looks like this:
8721_upload_help_2.jpg

Double-click on the picture you want to upload and then click Submit. Now, I have dial up at home so at this point I go fix something to drink, look out the window to see what the dogs are doing, maybe tidy up the den.. Eventually the window will change to this:
8721_upload_help_3.jpg

And TA-DA youve uploaded a picture! Right-click on all the mumbo-jumbo next to the word Image and select copy.

Now, back up at that top green bar, click on Recent Posts find a post you want to comment on or start a new one, just like usual. Down in the body of the post, anywhere you want to insert that picture you just uploaded, just right-click and select paste. All that mumbo-jumbo will appear. Be sure to leave a few blank spaces before and after the mumbo-jumbo (I dont know why this is important but someone told me to do it so Im passing that along). When youve finished your post and youre ready to submit it CLICK PREVIEW. You want to make sure that you uploaded the right picture and not something embarrassing that has NOTHING to do with your post

And there you go.
