I keep forgetting what threads I have. But I would like to resurrect this one.
So. Here I are!
Randy got the greenhouse finished finally. It only needed another 20 min to finish but took 6 months to do it 😆
My rosemary is ecstatic not to be crammed under a manure bucket each night to survive freezing, and I would like to get my herbs started out there. I have seeds for parsley, basil, oregano, green onions, lemon balm, thyme and chamomile. Except for the basil, they all seem to winter over so I figured planting in the greenhouse might work out. Please please feel free to chime in.

I am having a REALLY good day, which is surprising since I started out in so much pain, but I got bread bowls baked for soup, I’ve got two loaves of sourdough shaped and resting ready to go in the bannetons and fridge for a day, to bake on Christmas and give to the ranch family, I took three heads of that amazing garlic that I grew last year and planted them. I covered the strawberries with straw because Randy had a big piece of plywood covering them, and I even made it out to see Mister and get his feet cleaned out as he is stocked up and thrushy.

My hands are kind of used up for the day and I still have dinner to make, but I’m pretty happy with how much I accomplished, even if I can’t fix dinner tonight. We still have leftover beef dip and homemade hoagies, although not sure I can talk him into that for the 3rd night in a row😆

I already have a plan to get the ducks (18 of them the boss’ wife foisted on us 🤬) out of MY garden, by driving them past the pig (also foisted on us) into her son’s garden. Ducks are absolutely the dirtiest, smelliest things I ever saw. 1 or 2 are not so bad if they lay eggs, but 18 is a nightmare! The soil in my garden is like concrete from them living in there. Luckily, I have the rabbits, and several months to correct that….and I just realized I might not be able to get the tractor in the garden because the greenhouse is blocking access…:he or maybe it’s just a tight squeeze…
Oh well.

Hello! I just found this thread. We accidently eliminated Hollyhocks here. DH kept mowing them off. They are biennial, I think, and reproduce by seed. So, if not allowed to bloom and go to seed the cycle stops. I loved the hollyhock on the alley side of the garage. Now we only have a few right up against the garage. :(
Have you had any luck knocking back the number of yours since you posted about them in 2023?

the seeds remain viable in the soil for several years so if you can cordon off the area and keep the new ones that sprout and pop up from being mowed down you may get some kind of revival. the existing live ones will be able to supply extra seeds if needed. :)
