Me too!
I don't know if i can get these picts to make sense...
This is the 'living room' that was almost completely unused. The only thing that this room had been used for in years was to play wii and 'store' junk.

I FINALLY got the stains out of the carpet, got the trash furniture out of there, got Dad to let me have the table that Grand Daddy made , took that giant basket of flowers apart to make several small arraingments, moved my FIL's china cabinet in - got the junk out and Grand Mother's crystal in, and even got the radio working again. TADAA! My 'new' dining room!

And just for fun - if anyone remembers that old piano that I was going to turn into a cabinet...
This is the 'canning cabinet' I finally settled on. An old dresser topped with a $15 hutch from the thrift store.

And once I started taking the piano apart, I discovered it was beautiful inside (after a GOOD cleaning!)

Your new Dining Room looks great , I like the canning storage. Cool piano. Is it just a show piece now?

Thank you.
Yeah, for now it's just to hold some photos and look really neat from the far end of the house. Once I saw how pretty the harp was inside it, I moved it a little to get some towels under it while I cleaned it - and then moved it again to get them back out. There is really no chance that I'll be able to get that thing out of the frame by myself - it's HEAVY!

Nice re-do on the new dining room. Years ago, I turned an unused living room into a dining area. It had a fireplace in it, so it was nice to "dine" by the fire. I had knocked out a wall to create a great room, and it was visible from a large area.

Nice room @canesisters ! Love that old china cabinet. You did a beautiful job of pulling it all together. :)

I sometimes think it would be nice to have a larger house, but I know that it would just mean I would accumulate more. We use Kid#1's old room for an office and it's stuffed. And the thing is, except for the bookshelves on the wall above our desks we didn't buy any additional furniture, it's all stuff we already had, it was just in other places.

Cane, do you use your "new" dining room? It seems that if people have dine in kitchens that the dining room is seldom used. We use ours only for family dinners. But since our computer desk is in a corner we use the dining room alot. Ha

I like the transformation. If you ever want another project, you could paint that canning cubboard. :) It would look more updated if you did.

We used it for Christmas Dinner. My house is the only one big enough for the family to gather. For a long time we've had to split up (4 at the kitchen table, 2 at the island, the rest in the den on TV trays). we rarely have more than 6 anymore so it will be nice to be able to eat all together on special occasions. Also, it's a great place for early morning reading. Not so comfey that I'm tempted to snuggle down. Facing east to watch the sun rise. Only steps from the coffee maker.

Shovelling. We got a record amount of snow, 18" in 2 days, on top of 10" or so already on the ground. Here's DH shovelling off our upper deck and digging out the bird feeder yesterday. It continued to snow all day after these pics were taken. I also helped shovel, push or pull (with my honda element) at least 5 vehicles out of snowbanks or ditches yesterday.

(Oops sideways, not sure what to do about that!
