.I tried several rice beans too, and while growth was vigorous, the vines only began blooming just before frost. One bush variety - which I really wanted to succeed - never even budded.
I REALLY shouldn't do this (given how little I eked out) but I pulled some of the red rice beans I've got out last night for you, if you want them. These are MY rice beans, from my own plants (as opposed to what I have distributed before, which simply came from the same bags as I got my stuff from) so it is basically vetted to flower by around August here in southern New York (6a/6b).
If you are in too much of a hurry to wait for mine, or need amounts more than the handful I can spare (rice beans are really a field crop, so one should ideally plant them en masse ) the brand I am currently dipping from, and the only one that (based on my rather arbitrary method of guessing which is right versus wrong type) is Merry Group Ld. of Hong Kong.
