Is food cheaper to grow?

The biggest thing IMHO about growing your own vegetables is not the price though (make sure you are comparing to similar produce, e.g. organic and absolutely fresh) -- it is the knowledge and skill that you gain.

This is the reason I garden. I don't love to garden, in fact there are times that I down right hate it. However, I do it because I love knowing that I don't have to rely on the grocery store for my food. If something were to happen, I know how to grow it and I know how to store it. And most importantly my children are learning how to work. That to me is priceless.
