This must be very discouraging to you Mary. :hugs

I'm sure you're doing as much research as you can get your hands on about this. One of my sisters had a serious illness starting when she was 8, and my mom discovered that she had to be her own spokesperson and do a lot of research for herself.
She discovered things that some of the doctors weren't aware of that made a difference.

I would encourage you to gather as much information as possible, if nothing else it will help you ask educated questions. It seems like a person has to ask a lot of questions to get answers that a doctor may not volunteer.

Hang in there Mary, you'll come out on the other side of this, and spring will be showing up soon. :)

I know what you mean and what happened with your sister was what I went through with DH. They made a lot of mistakes. The blood thinner really is what sped up his death. I told them something was wrong when his nose was bleeding, they said he was picking his nose. He was covered in bruises. I was afraid to stop the shots because he had a blood clot in his leg and who knew where else. Only after his brain was bleeding did they find out and they put him back on it after he had brain surgery again only half dose and he started to bleed again and came off forever. It was a combination with his cancer experimental drug. So hard to look for the information and fight about all this. I did call a naturopathic doctor and asked if I lost weight, exercised more, changed diet, would she help me come off the blood thinner and she said yes. I will ask this doctor when I go if he will. I will have to be on it for 6 months or more and if he does the blood work then fine, if not, I am in trouble. I want it drawn every 3 months. It took a year last time to go back to normal. I think my numbers are not as high this time and then go onto baby aspirin, but monitor my blood for me. If he will do that then I will be happy about it. I am starting to think it is my fault and sitting, but that hematologist said INFECTION and here I had a respiratory virus in December, very odd. I have not had a cold, virus or nothing in 15 years or more until the chickenpox.

Find another doctor if the one you have won't give this the attention it SHOULD have, this is something you have to stay on top of, blood clots are not something to fool around with.
Hubby has to stay on blood thinner, heart problems. I was on blood thinners for a year when I had the first go around with cancer, blood clots in the lungs. Went off them a month after chemo finished without any ill effects. This time around they gave me a couple of blood thinner shots when I ended up in hospital, I guess as a preventative but none after I came home.
Sending big :hugs and healing thoughts your way.

Annette

Annette, you made me feel good. I think I have been such a baby over this. I have a problem and need to face it like an adult and not a baby pouting I am not in perfect health and do what I can to fix this. I am sitting too much. My job is getting to be insane to even put up with. I am thinking when I start feeling better I may look for a job outside of the house and give up my typing job, or I am going to have to get real serious about the time I sit and do work. I do need to lose weight. I do need to exercise more. I do need to eat better. I have lost 7 pounds recently and 4 of it just since Sunday and I think my blood is too thick and holding fluid. I need to find out why and fix all this. I am going to go start some more seeds and thank you.

I don't know anything about blood and lung problems. The only difficult news I had personally was a test about 5 years after I quit smoking still showed the effects of 20 years of smoking earlier. Another 25 years have passed so maybe that is no longer true.

Is that employer supplied insurance? Ouch!

Could you be eligible for Medicare and should you begin the process that might take you there?

idahostatesman.com news

The state legislature is really "out there" on anything between the 2 federal programs.

Steve

No will be 63 next month, so have a couple years left. I did heal completely from the first time. I had both lungs with clots and an infarction, all healed. Your body heals it, not the blood thinner. Your lungs most likely are perfectly healed after all these years.

too many people think docs know it all, they don't, they can help, but they can also hurt so always be sure what you are into and what they are recommending.

last time i went to docs, said to her that everything wrong with me was not going to be treated and to just check blood for issues. came back 15 points better than last time and i have been doing the opposite of what previous doctor recommended.

it's still an art and somewhat science. as time goes on we'll get better treatments and more knowledge, but at present we are far from knowing...

hang in there wabbie. :) :hugs

Honey, you aren't being a baby, you're concerned, ask me, it's the unknown that is so scary, hopefully they will get you back on track soon. Let's not talk about weight gain to a gal who has been sitting on her dairy aire for a obscene amount of time this last year. I like to cook, that's the big problem, I also like to eat, unfortunately I'm not working it off unless washing a couple of windows and scrubbing the cupboard above the stove down the other day count, at least it got my heart rate up if nothing else :).

One good thing, the medication I'm on is acting like a diuretic, the output makes me think I'm not retaining any fluid at all. My legs are shot, have been for a long time but you know, if there's a will there's a way. I just bought one of those seen on TV thingies, a battery operated brush, this I used on the cupboard above the stove, it did a bang up job so I'm going to tackle the bathtub and surround tomorrow.

Any one have a seen on TV Pane Doctor for windows? I need to get stuff that I can use without using steps, my leaping up on counters to clean are long gone. Still trying to think of the best squeezie mop to use on my kitchen ceiling.

I don't believe them or trust them, which makes this so hard. I too just want blood work done so I will know if I am getting better. I have an appointment with a naturopathic doctor the day after the regular doctor. I will make all my decisions then about the blood thinner. I will stay on it for now.

We just do the best we can I guess and have a good attitude about it. Getting older is hard on me. I have never had health issues. I am going to improve my situation the best I can. Things sure change.

Oh Mary, my heart goes out to you. I'm glad you're going to see a naturopathic doctor. That will give you a different alternative. You are on the right track by wanting to exercise more and have a healthier diet. These things can't hurt. I so want to hear good news in the near future. All I can do is pray for you. Wish I could do more. :(

I looked at my reports on line. This does not seem to be near as serious. My oxygen level was normal and the first time it was not normal for several months. It says nothing about PE in my arteries. It says segmental and subsegmental. I will get my blood drawn on Wednesday and see how bad the numbers are. I do not see they did any of the blood work that shows coagulation. It might not be as bad. I will talk to the naturopathic doctor. I have long-stem 8 pounds and 4 ounces. I am going to do this all different this time. Prayers and thoughts thank you!
