I bought this last night at Lowes - I'm hoping someone on TEG has used them with success?

They are easy and fun. Great to use with kids. And they are successful. I actually bought some on Friday. I haven't used them the last couple of years but I am working full time this year and it takes a lot of the work out of seed starting.

Those work just fine. I would suggest that you remove the mesh before transplanting, it can sometimes take a long time to decompose and possibly hinder the new spreading roots. Other than that it's great!:D

I've haven't tried those pellets that expand for stating seeds. Although I saw this seed starter in park seed that I want to get for planting flower seeds this year. Its suppose to support strong roots and easy transplanting.
Time to get ready for Spring!!!!!!!! :celebrate

They are pricey if you are starting a lot of seedlings. I prefer potting mix and six packs but, I'm sure they will work. Light and bottom heat are the most important.

Yup, used them and really like them! I've been reusing my little greenhouse for years (the size of your smaller one) and i dont even always use the jiffy pellets in it - you can buy peat cups to fill with seed starter and the bottoms fit right into the indents for the pellets as well. Just sterilize your greenhouse between uses :)

I used them before, and they work well. The only problem was that the seedlings started to outgrow them pretty quickly. I used masking tape to label the rows so I know what was growing where.

I told hubs that I wanted something like this for next year. He says he wants a greenhouse... I told him to wait until we're in our forever home before he starts with the ideas of a greenhouse! LOL

Thats good news. I'm glad so many had good success with them. annageckos - thanks for the masking tape tip. I was wondering how I was going to label them.

I've used them for the past 2 years with great success. Makes transplanting very easy and roots are less disturbed. You can buy pellet refills and keep the same greenhouse. It does take a long time for the mesh to disintigrate but I didn't have any problem with it inhibiting the roots.
