But brooding them in the house is rather unpleasant,
My little spur of the moment chick adventure landed 20 of those peeping critters in my bedroom Thursday night. I knew that wasn't going to get it, but when I came home from work yesterday I was certain. As soon as I opened the door I smelled chickens. It didn't take long to build a brooder box and send their peeping little butts out to the barn.

55 Meatie chickens are coming in May. Our brooder is out in the milk room, but we found turkey poults in town cheap, so there are 4 of them in the living room at the moment. The outside brooder is full of straw bales and isn't cat proof yet. So far, however, 4 are not smelly, noisy, dusty or obnoxious. :p
