We were playing fetch with Carson’s blue rubber duck and he jumped in my chair. We laughed at him and I snapped this picture. He’s lost all his baby teeth now. My puppy is growing up!

The weather has been nasty here for a couple days and we haven't had Penny out much, so DH decided to take her out to a MO conservation area west of us, where we sometimes go to walk. It is surrounded by farm land and light woods. Penny got on a deer scent and took off, like she does for rabbits, but knowing it was a bigger target. She ran that deer for a good 45 minutes till DH finally decided he better fetch her back.
When he finally came up on them, the deer was standing about 15 feet from Penny. Both were panting with their tongues hanging out, worn down but watching each other. DH was able to grab the Penny while he watched the deer. It was a young buck, not in very good shape. His back knees were all swollen up and one antler knocked off. The deer looked like he was on his last leg.
DH started dragging Penny out of there, to give the deer some peace. She was not happy to go. Never mind any training she has had, she wanted to staaay!

DH told me if he had had a gun, he would have shot the deer, to put it out of its misery. He felt so bad that Penny had run him down. She sure couldn't have done that if the buck had been healthy. I hope he heals.

I had given my sister a puppy, she never had one before. One Sat night she was straightening, up and noticed blood on a bone when she looked closer there was a tooth stuck in the bone. She tried calling me but my cell was off. She started to panic, because it was a weekend night she rushed her puppy to emergency clinic. She flew though the doors and ran to front desk crying and sobbing. Everyone in the waiting stopped what they where doing. When girl at desk asked what was wrong she sobbed her puppies teeth are falling out. The girl again asked what was wrong my sister said something serious is wrong with his mouth his teeth are falling out. Girl looked at her funny and said yes there baby teeth there suppose too.

Whoa, whoa, whoa .... get that dog outside pronto ... sitting on the edge of the chair is NOT what one is supposed to do to relieve oneself especially indoors ... in your house ... :sick

We have been keeping our little granddaughters this week. The 2 year old loves to play with Carson. He is figuring out how to play with her. We had to watch him closely to make sure he didn’t swat her with a big paw or chew on her like a dog toy. Last night they played sock. She ran from him, shrieking and he galloped after her. He bit up and down the sock, and dragged her around. She fell down, got back up and the game resumed.

She likes to sit and lay on him. Carson likes that game too.
