Since it's Sunday afternoon, I've brewed 2 pots of coffee through the day and enjoyed. I say "coffee" and "enjoyed" with some reservations. But, I'm okay :D.

I've used my usual amount of 100% Columbian beans for 1/3 the amount of water. Then, I've used the dry figs at the rate of 2/3rds what is recommended. Result: I can't taste the figs! It tastes almost exactly the same as if I used 1/3rd caffeinated Columbian and 2/3rds decaffeinated Columbian beans.

I'm drinking it black. No, soymilk or anything but I can't believe that would make a difference in tasting the figs. These are nice, strong cups of coffee ... with one-third of the coffee beans required ...

I can't think of what this really means. I've cut the caffeine but I could have done that with the decaf beans. I haven't improved the flavor over using the caffeinated beans, alone. One uses so little of the dry figs, I might be saving money, don't know.

I guess that the value is mostly that I have something I can put in a teaball that has more flavor than decaf instant. Compared to instant caffeinated alone, it's not very convenient to use the teaball ... I guess I'm still in the market for a good instant decaf to go with the Kava but I bet I could fool most anyone by these strong beverages I've brewed today ;)! He He! Ahem.

I had an uncle who would make instant coffee with warm tap water. He would just fill his cup at the faucet and add a spoon of instant coffee. I doubt he was too choosy about the brand of coffee, either.
You seem to be a little more particular about your brew, digitS'!

Nooo!

Life is too short to drink coffee (or, teas) without giving it some thought!

Besides, coffee is why we have the indoors. And, the outdoors ... and, the transition in between.

Here it's Sunday again and I forgot to start the coffee maker until I was stirring my cuppa!

The fig drink went in the empty Jasmine Tea can (@ninnymary may want to note ;)). I was thinking and planning for that brew since 4am. Spinning whole beans in the grinder didn't even enter my lazy, Sunday brain ;)

Did I sound grouchy, @Smart Red ?

I try not to be a grouchy, or too much of a critic. It would be better to be an encourager, altho there is a great deal to criticize, with only a smidgen of critical thinking ;).

And, I treat myself with things to drink ... a beer almost daily but that's singular and at the close of the day. Too much and too early and I'll waste daylight by falling asleep!

Now, get off of my lawn! Just kidding:).

Steve, you are never grouchy or too much of a critic. You are fine just the way you are.

I like that japanese tin can. :) So I guess you drank that jasmine tea once upon a time?

In 2016. And, liked it!

Had no idea that I would ;). I need to be open to life's many surprises :).

Thank you for the kind words, Mary.

You grouchy? Of course not! Not overly critical either. Like the bear. . . you are. . . just right. I think the writing seemed a bit more wandering than usual and a cup of coffee seemed just the thing to set you on the right tone. Perhaps it was me and my too early reading attempt that brought thoughts of coffee to my mind.
