We very much enjoyed meeting everybody who were able to make the event, and would be up for more of the same anytime. DW had fun meeting you all also, she says we don’t get out enough as it is these days. Thomas was quick to make friends with everybody there also and had a wonderful time except for the few minutes after the bee sting. Major glad to see you made your destination with no issues. You sure are putting on the miles. Safe travels

Beautiful home stomping grounds, @majorcatfish ! Forgot to tell you, my father's ancestors (Yes, we are related to Johnny Cash) settled in Raleigh, NC in 1685. Beat DH's ancestors, who are in the Nickolas Gibb's Society, 1744. Paternal GM was in the DAR. GOTTA visit SOMEtime, so I may be writing YOU in the near future!

day 14.....
well day 13 was just a greet and meet, it was held at jakes on the lake so it was crowded and loud...

saturday morning all of us siblings meet at sand harbor state park where leslie <oldest sister>arranged kayaks, we had a good paddle.she put dads ashes in 4 jars so we each could paddle to a our private spot to say our goodbyes.
it was a perfect morning to do it... once back to the cars we talked for a bit. my younger sis gave me some stuff from when mom passed and things that i asked for from dad. we said our goodbyes to each other.

you know paddling a kayak is a good way to cure a hangover.... came back to thew hotel and took a long nap...

the big event... it was mush better to meet and catch up will everyone, most everyone mentioned that i have a southern accent...<never noticed>
the word got out that i drove cross country to the reunion, some have been following on facebook. dinner was Delicious

Don't know if you experienced this. My first high school reunion was the class's 30th. When I got there it was a bunch of strangers, I hardly recognized anyone. Within 15 to 20 minutes I could have recognized most people without their name tags. Funny how the brain adjusted.

That’s right after 40 years had to look at most every ones name tag now i can recognize about half

Good to hear about your sibling reunion. I think the way you all were able to say goodbye to your dad was memorable and inspired.

I've never been to any HS reunions.
My name changed (witness protection program, haha) so they probably couldn't find me. I doubt I would have gone anyway. I graduated in 3 years and never looked back.
