Understand wanting to kill the dog. I'd be more mad at the humans. Sorry, kindest word I would call them.

@thistlebloom that would have been one dead dog.....unless it was first time the dog saw me. Then he would be in cage or house when everyone gone.

She was in the house, and had been with this family for nearly a year.
Completely inexcusable, and so unbalanced to behave that way to a family member.

This animal is more than ten years old, so I doubt any "training" is going to change its temperament. Ava may have sat on its favorite spot on the sofa for all we know. Given the dog's "history", allowing him to live is, in my opinion, criminal. As the saying goes: you can't teach an old dog new tricks.

But.. shepherd mix or Chihuahua mix or hound mix or????? Just curious.

Personally, I will not tolerate that behavior from ANY animal in my care. I believe it's part of 'taking care' of an animal to ensure that it will not hurt people - not my dogs, not my horses (when I had them), not my cow, not even the cats.
