We've got some really high winds here too. Hope it'll help dry up some of this mud! Still have snow, but not in the drive or around the buildings. I can actually see some of my flower plants out front :)

Morning ,
Still dark out there & I'm trying to adjust to the time change. Talked to DH about planting asparagus & I think were gonna give it try. Haven't looked at the weather forecast for today but hoping it's just as nice as it was yesterday.

Good morning, Rusty. I checked out your dahlia thread a couple days ago. Blew me away! (Sorry about your losses, too) You've got way more gumption than I do. I can't imagine digging and replanting those every year. The few years I tried with a number I could count on both hands and feet pretty much cured me of trying again. Of course, maybe it would have been more inspiring if the blasted things ever bloomed, but at this point I'll stick with daffodils, rugosa roses and hardy perennials. :/

OK.....at work & sneaking this in.....Talking about gardeninig & planting with a client, they informed me that there are different varieties of asparagus like there are various types of tomatoes, melons, peppers, etc....lol I already knew that!! Anyway for those of you have planted....What type did you plant and do you perfer one brand over the other? This particular person had the Mary Washington variety.

I have no idea what kind of asparagus I planted, it's whatever the fruit and veggie market had when I walked in. I'm guessing one of the usual suspects. Whatever is most common. :/

Well, I'm in Texas but I just wanted to say that I also planted Mary Washington, which is a very old open pollinated variety . The "Jersey" types are all-male hybrids which supposedly produce better, but since I planted 30 crowns for 6 people I think I'll have enough. Plus I can collect seed from mine, if I want to.

No nothing about asparagus except that I like to eat it :hu

On another note, wasn't it just beautiful today? I tried to spend it outside but then DH wanted to head over to the Gaylord stockyard with his brother and SIL so I tagged along. Beef is up and pork is down. I couldn't believe that on average pork sold for 68 cents a pound! Beef average was about 2.25 a pound for calves. The hogs averaged 200 pounds. I have one beef calf and two little oinkers here already, so it was a just look and wish trip.

SWAPDUCKS I seen your post on BYC about the little chicks you've ordered. Now are you going to stop at TSC when you go into town and buy some or just look or not even enter?
