so nice and clean .. i love the colors too, the purple in the leaves .. what is that plant? cabbage or broccoli?
can i ask how you water, just by rain?
also by 'mulched leaves' do you compost them, or do they sit in a pile alone? i just bagged 2 bags today to try this

the first plant is purple cabbage, second is broccoli. Lately mother nature has taken care of the watering - and a little too much I might ad. Rain today and the rest of the week.

As for leaves,I save all from my yard and collect some from my dads place too. I have a blower/mulcher that I use to shred the leaves and put them in a bin by my compost. I use them all year for the composter and mulching my flower beds and the veggie garden. I guess you can use the plastic bag method, but the leaves are going to break down in the garden anyway.

good luck!

Great looking garden, Joan! I envy your long growing season.
Newspaper - leaf mold mulch is the best! I've done it in my vege garden for years. No weeds, great for the soil! I pile up the leaves, throw in a few grass clippings and let them sit til spring.

Cute tree, Joe. I think I could really like fall... if I could get through it without thinking about what comes next! :tongue

Your garden looks amazing. I so envious of your veggies. You should have a nice harvest. Did you have any problems with something eating your beets? Mine got destroyed so I pulled them.

Not my beets, but the cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower and collards. I tried DE first and that didn't work so I used just a sprinkle of Sevin and that seems to have stopped them.

"that is one bad thing about living in the "Evergreen State" I lack leaves!"

HiDelight....I live in SE Washington. We bought a property where one entire property line, about a thousand feet, is lined with aging Lombardy Poplars. I'm tellin' ya.....I got leaves!
