i'm horrible at plant id stuff but to me that looks something like a rose or rose family type of plant. will be interested to see what others who know what they're talking about have to say.

The flower reminds me of a gardenia but the leaves are different. Did it have any smell?

The leaves on the gardenia shown are upright, and the leaves you posted hang down and look different.
